Biography

Michael Minto 

 

Michael Colin Minto has been performing on stage since the age of 6 when he became involved in Stageworks Theater Company in Covina, California. He performed in musicals and plays regularly there until High School. While at Ayala High School, he began studying improv in 2002 which quickly became a deep seated passion of his. Throughout college he competed in theater festivals and performed as much as possible, getting the chance to play roles like John Proctor in The Crucible, Toddy and Shane Mungitt in Take Me Out which went to the ACTF that year, and Cliff in Cabaret.

 

While finishing his bachelors of science in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at UCSD, Michael stayed heavily involved in the improv & sketch writing communities. He was a member of the improv teams FOOSH, National Comedy Theater, Stage Monkeys, and his own sketch group Inside The Box. 

 

Once Michael left graduate school to get back to fully pursuing acting he immediately got back into theater, performing in two musicals: The Demise of The Dodo, and Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog in which he portrayed Captain Hammer, during comicon of 2011. 

 

As he transitioned back into LA he started studying at The Groundlings Theater and began performing with his own long-form improv team "Hospital Fight". Once settled in Michael found and began studying Meisner technique under Robert Carnegie at Playhouse West in North Hollywood. 

 

Since then, Michael has been heavily involved in the I.O. West, The Groundlings, and Comedy Sportz communities, also performing occaisionally at places like The Improv, The Clubhouse, and Second City. 

 

Michael has recently begun producing short sketches with the group called "The Short Line". Michael continues to study improv at the local schools and theaters, as well as dramatic acting at playhouse west and other theater companies.
